Default Default HTML5 styling?

Im using the new HTML5-tags. I have a few questions:

1. Why is it better to use HTLM5-tags fx <article> than using own names as fx #content?

2. Does the HTML5-tags fx <article>: carry a default styling in width / height?

3. When styling in CSS should we use separate or nested selectors for semantic correctiness; eg loadtime on mobile units?
Does it actually matter for loadtime or not writing the extra selector in front?

Classique example
article {color: red}
.newColor {color: green}

Semantique example
article {color: red}
article.newColor {color: green}

1. They don't exclude each other. Use both!
HTML Code:
<article id="content">
2. No

3. Use only the specificity you need.
