Default Multilingual Sites

I am currently quoting for a Multilingual website and I wondered what the best way to approach the languages.

If i set the language lang="en" to lang "de" and then copy and pasted the german text for example would this be the correct way to do this? or do I get the webhost to install language packs onto the server?

Anyone tackled this before?

Setting the lang attribute to the appropriate language is indeed one of the steps to take. Another one that is important is to set the right meta character for the language.

I did not so long ago a website in 3 languages without a CMS behind it. Are you planning to use a CMS for that website otherwise there are obviously language plugins/modules you can install. If not than I can show you how I did it with that website.
