Default how to track where you are on the site

Basically, and it probably has a basic answer, how can i make it so the correct link lights up on the navbar. So (taking this site for example) you see it says "home" "Forum" "tut..." etc, how do i make it so it shows which you are actually on.

I have my nav bar on my site in PHP format which the other sites call on. Will i have to take the Navbar out of the main.php and put it in the in the main body of the website?

to show what i mean, this is a link to my website, where you will see "reviews Streams News" are all glowing. I want it so only the part you are on glows
