Default flash site

hey there is just bought a flash site template and i am having troubles editing it in dreaweaver cs.

when i load the index.html in DW design view it comes up as a black page with a small broken page icon that link to a "get flash player" , but when when i click the live view button it works fine..

since im not much of a coder i would like to just get it to the point where i can visually edit the template.

any help would be appreciated

I'm no Flash expert (by any stretch) but I think you need to be using Adobe Flash and not Dreamweaver.

In addition to the html file with and the swf file that has been placed on it. The template should come with a .fla Flash file which you can edit in Flash. Flash sites are really not a good choice. You should have bought an HTML template.
If my answer helped, check out DWcourse.com for Dreamweaver tips and tutorials.

thanks for the reply's

so flash websites have to be edited in flash?
i was under the impression that they used the
flash application just for the layout animation.
If i buy flash will i be able to edit it and upgrade
it like a normal website?

Or do i have to edit one of the other pages in the folder
the folder is like this :

site flash/

contact - active server page
contact - php script
ie6 - cascading style sheet
index - html document
main7_cs3 - flash movie
style - cascading style sheet

the template came with a flash version of the site and an html version of and the source files from photoshop. i can definitely use the html version , but no fancy flash animations which is why i wanted the site in the first place.

again thanks in advance ro reply's

You can't actually edit a .SWF file as it is the published version of a .FLA file, if you have the fla file which can be opened in flash mx, 8 and cs3 then you need to edit the action script for the redirect. this can usually be found at the end off the time line on one of the layers. indicated by a small "a" above a "o" the action script should look something like this.
replay.onRelease = function()

just change the URL in the getURL
to match what you want.
