Smile Targetting different Phrases

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone can help, I have designed this website www.drivingschoolnorthampton.com and need some further help with SEO !
When I search in google driving school northampton I am on second page in rankings but when I search northampton driving school (same words but different way round), the page rank is about 6 or 7 !
Do I need to target different pages with different phrases to improve SEO for that specific phrase or am I doing something wrong !!, I am still new to all this SEO stuff and have tried to ask other driving schools rom other areas to exchange links, is this a good idea, any advice again would be great, take a look at site and if poss would really appreciate feedback and advice !!!

Cheers,
Nick C

The difference probably comes from your domain name, drivingschoolnorthampton.com. If it was northamptondrivingschool.co, you'd probably see the opposite.

Targeting the phrases on their own pages might help. As would using both variations in the text of your internal links. And, of course, external links with that text would be helpful as well.

A bit of link exchanging with relevant site should be OK, just don't be overly blatant about it or overdo it. And be sure to ask for relevant link text (rather than simply your url as the link text and make sure that your link isn't nofollowed on the other site.

keyword density
Driving 21 Northampton 9 Lessons 9 Ruth 9 Drive 8 Lets 7 need 7 car 7 Learning 6 Tuition 4
keyphrase
Driving Lessons 5 Driving Test 2 fully qualified DSA approved Driving Instructor 2 Gift Vouchers 2 1st Hour Half Price 2 Highway Code Online 2 Driving License 2 Driving School Northampton 1 Driving Lessons Northampton 1
i think the higher density of northhampton might be the cause

you use Driving Lessons for Northampton Daventry Rugby and Towcester as hi tag
if you think driving schools is a better search term than Driving Lesson try changing this

You can do a link exchange, which is mot likely not going to work. Worst case scenario, you might find yourself dropping int he SERP's. You might also come across as a sleezy used cars salesman.

Why not market yourself and be active in social and traditional media instead? On top of my head I can think of a couple of ideas.
Ruth's driving tips <- blog
market this on twitter and facebook. If it works market it towards people locally through traditional media.

You need to think SEM, not SEO. You're site is just fine, try to step outside of thinking about on-site optimization. The core of Google's algo has to do with things that is not on your site.
