Default Google not displaying Meta Description properly

I am extremely happy that the home page of my video production website, www.playroomcreative.com, has moved it's way up to fifth from the top in Google's natural listings when I search for "video production". However, the description it shows is not the one I created in the meta description tag. Instead, it shows snippets from text within the body of the page. Even more strangely, if I Google the name of my site itself, "Playroom Creative", the description will then show up fine. Here is an example.

If I search for "Video Production" then this is the description Google shows:
Production Home Page Ad Samples (HD & Film) Ad Samples (Video) Infomercial Samples Web Video Samples Print Samples Media Samples (Other) ...

If I search for "Playroom Creative" then the correct description appears:
We are a full service Orange County production and marketing company for TV, web, and print media. (714) 969-3938.

I am also concerned that making any changes now could result in my loss of Google positioning. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can get the correct description to appear without loosing Google positioning?

Thanks in advance!
Ian

I hate to burst your bubble but I don't find www.playroomcreative.com in the top 100 for the term video production.

That said, Google will often pulls what it considers relevant content from your page or the description of your site from dmoz and use that instead of the description. Basically Google uses the description meta tag as a fall back position if it doesn't find a section of your page relevant to the search term to pull from.

BTW, if you're signed into Google, it may be personalizing your search results which can give you highly misleading results.

And one more thing. Google has begun to localize search results for many search queries which means what you see in Huntington Beach may differ widely from what someone in, say New York, sees.

The meta description and keywords tags have no influence on your ranking in Google, so go ahead and make any changes you want.

This post http://www.studiojmc.com/design-blog...al-search.html might help explain why you see your page at #5 on Google while I don't find it at all.

If you set your location in Google to Huntington Beach, CA (a feature being rolled out with Google Places) you'll see playroomcreative.com is indeed on the first page of the results for video production.

That's what is so game changing about Places.
