Default My urls aren't working

Im working on my flash nav bar, it consists of logo, 5 buttons and a login and sign up link.

I imported my layout from photoshop. Got the buttons rollover set up but i think i missed something. When I looked about making the buttons link it didnt seem to work.

It said I need an actions layer, which i made and put the code in about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
function mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com/"));
}

I just changed the btn name to one of my buttons, doesnt seem to work.

I think my layers need to be linked in a special way? Everything ive done to this point is all on frame 1 for the rollovers. Should the main nav image be made into a movie first and linked to the rest somehow? and im using cs3 flash. thx

I should mention the last thing i have is I want to have random quotes in here fade in or across whatever...but im guessing I cant do too many cause it will take longer to load? any suggestions for this? Only thing i thought without having any knowledge is many I need to make multiple nav bars that rotate and different pages with their own few quotes? not really sure

flash is a lot of trouble for a navbar and may not work for everyone. Won't CSS work for what your want to do?

And as for random quotes, you should be able to find a jQuery or php function that can pull your quotes from a text file or database.

You can just a href="" to a flash button.

You don't need a separate layer, you can add an action to the button itself. However, if the buttons are not separate images you can use invisible buttons.

Here's a tut... (Disclaimer: this was the first Google result, not the best)
