Default Homepage of the site

Just a quick (and possibly silly) question,
I had my home page file named Home.html, then a friend of mine suggested that in order for the hosting space to recognise it as the homepage, i have to name it Index.html? is that true? i think i read something similar to this but i imagine it would be more hightech than that??

No its that simple. name it index.html and the host will recognise this as the main page.

You can also add this to your .htaccess file:

DirectoryIndex home.html index.html

That allows both home.html and index.html to be recognized as the default with home.html having preference.
