Default SEO questions

Ok

i have now launched my site ( see signature )

How important are <meta key words and content tags?

I have been searching on phrases and analysing the results. Some of these results have no keywords at all! yet some have loads. What's the crack?

Any pointers regarding SEO and the site of course would be appreciated

Oh... I nearly forgot

If i choose Google UK and search on PHP lessons i am 3rd from the top. Is this cool or as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike?

Obviously this means im awesome in the UK ( goes without saying really )!!!

mata keywords are pretty useless, search engines will use the description you add however. 1st page google is gold providing it is a search keyword that is practical or in other words words , phrases punters will use.
look for back links from some directories or sites relevant to your subject, the higher their google pr the better it will be for you.
site map and register it with google .
i ll send you some links that might help later

If they cannot find text on the page that can be used.

If your site is being displayed in the SERP's with the meta description, it can be a symptom that Google is not able to fully understand your document structure.

Or simply that you have typed the name of the site into Google. If I type 'codezenith' into Google I'd expect to see your description. If I typed 'free 121 php lessons' into Google I'd expect to see the text in the page that contains that phrase.
