you shouldn't use any code exported from fireworks in your web pages - it's only for mock ups. it's dumb that you can do it, but don't

use something like these
http://www.twinhelix.com/dhtml/fsmenu/
or a paid for or tutorial one from http://www.projectseven.com/

does the file you are attempting to open contain tables?

the 'roundtrip' function of fireworks only works - afaik - when the the html originates from with a fireworks file, so i guess that could be why.

I'm a beginner and it's probably due to operator error or misunderstanding of what the programs can/cannot do that I'm having a problem.

I read this thread and am having a problem with the CSS being imported into Dreamweaver CS4 from Fireworks CS4. I thought with CS4 that the CSS could be imported, but maybe I'm mistaken.

I did get the following messages, which is somewhat greek to me which said:

Javascript Error:

File C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS4\Configureation|HTML Code\CSSLayers.htt, line 1401, error: test for equality (= =) mistyped as assignment (=)?
Assuming equality test

Additionally I got the following message which would make sense about the previous information posted:

Fireworks:
Only slice images from the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and behavior attributes will be ignored.

I used the Export Wizard when I got the above messages and I did indicate in the dialog box that it was "Images and CSS" when I did the export. The final results was a image (jpg), even though I had sliced all the various areas of the graphic.

Bottom line, is my understanding of what the CS4 verisons of Dreamweaver and Fireworks at fault, if not what might be my problem?

In your responses please keep it in mind that I'm not a programer and have a very limited idea as to what I'm doing (as if you couldn't tell already )

Thanks in advance for the help

Yeah, I'm getting the same error that northman93 is having.

I imported a Photoshop CS4 file into Fireworks CS4, in order to have Fireworks export the CSS that Photoshop is ignorant of (sticking with tables). Yet Fireworks is producing that error about the test for equality (==).

Makes me laugh. It's almost like Adobe Creative Suite isn't really a Suite, but just a collection of independent programs. And this is CS*4*??? One of these years, I hope they get it right.
