Question How quickly could I learn Flash?

Hi All,

I just got a redesign gig for a country club, and the present design has embedded Flash files. I'd like to keep some of them in the redesign, but I know nothing about Flash. I own it (CS3), but I don't think I've ever even opened it.

So here's my basic question: Once I submit a comp, I'll probably have around 30 days to complete the redesign. Would it be realistic for me to learn Flash in that amount of time, or at least be functional enough with it that I could incorporate the existing Flash files into the redesigned pages?

Here's the URL if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.lccny.com/

Thanks in advance,
Sam

the only flash i can see is the friends of the country club banners

i think this is over kill using flash for such a routine (pointless) animation

first does the club get any revenue from these ads? If so then in your layout concept you need to allocate a space to hold these banners and display them separately

in answer to your question. It would be quite easy to do in flash if this is all your going to need out of it but in my opinion you don't need flash on that site

unless your going to develop to this standard...

don't use flash at all

Thanks David. I agree that the Flash on the site is overkill, and to answer your question, the club doesn't receive any revenue from the "friends", so I think that'll be the first thing to go. Also good to know that I could get up to speed in Flash that quickly, so I'll probably look into it anyway. If you (or anyone) can recommend any good resources or tutorials, please send them my way.

Thanks again,
Sam

to use flash to its full extent you need to understand action script. This is simlar to Javascript. It gives you complete control ove physics and math

It's a powerful beast in the right hands - ie; not mine.

To go back to the original question...
If you had the original flash file it wouldn't be difficult to change images / text etc without too much stress...

Would I need to learn how to program in ActionScript in order to use it, or does Flash configure it automatically, similar to the way Dreamweaver configures JavaScript from the Design view?

I've seen your stuff, and I think you underestimate yourself.

I think I may use this as an opportunity to get at least basically functional in Flash, even if I don't end up using it on this site. I'll be in touch if I have any questions - which I probably will...
