Question squaring pictures

I am trying to make an image square without loosing the proportions. It currently measures 3456 x 2304 px

I have tried cropping it in a square, but if for example I want it to be 600x600px the image wont fit within those measurements, because the object is oblong .

Any advice?

I'm really not sure what you're asking...
You want to resize it without "losing the proportions"

I'm not sure you can change the shape of something without losing the proportions... Surely it's either gonna get squished or some cropped somewhere along the line...

Can you explain more ?... maybe if you tell us why you need to do it - it may make more sense (unless DJ has answered this [I can't get onto YT at the mo])

Cheers
Rob

basically you can't.
the link davidj is very interesting but as there's no info on whether or not it's commercially available (or did i miss that?!) then it's a mute point.

you either need to crop or not use square pics

That's crazy talk. I've never seen that before. It's how I would do it but I would do it manually... Crazy.
