i suggest a participation meter. This does not carry a rank as such just a value indicating participation because after all thats what we are measuring really whether that be asking questions or answering them. We have members on here with high post values but they have never helped another member so you cant really rank them in how helpful they are

its a puzzler
I know, I would hate to have it on my name as well but that is what would make me more active on the forums to try to get rid of that rank.

Something to fight for IMO.

trying to force a positive out of a negative is the wrong path

someone who constantly requires help could be ID'd as a HTML GURU (or whatever) Yet he achieved his status by not answering one question! He asked 300 though! and he is an HTML GURU. Then we have a professional who codes for a living and drops by to help a guy out. The guy he helps is tagged as a NOTEPAD JUNKIE and the helper (who is just passing through) is tagged as WHAT IS HTML ....! You can see my point here

I don't think this will shame people into posting more, I just think it will shame people into not returning.

Its wrong to use any negatives in a friendly forum

you are using an insult to identify new members which doesnt identify their true skillset.

I think the progress meter idea is the way to go. Attached is a few ideas I got from a quick google search.

Even a coffee bean one for Dj.

Another progress meter idea here...

I saw some droppins like that once. I think it was an overgrown mouse.

Sorry, silly me. I don't know what came over me. LOL

I like both ideas.
