Are you trying to capture an image or actually record the screen?

For image capture you can use Comand (aka the apple key)+Shift+4 and that turn you mouse into crosshairs. Just drag your mouse over what you want to capture.

Also, MAC come with a program called Grab, It's in you applications folder, and then in your utilities folder. This program gives you the option to capture a selection, the screen, a window, or do a timed capture, which records everything you do on the screen for 10 seconds.

Adobe has a program called Captivate. I haven't used it but I've heard it works well.

Sorry I'm looking for recording. I heard that captivate is only for Windows.

You might be right - I might be stupid - should have looked at that.

I just needed that time to remember the program iShowU by Whitebox. I have used it and I know NeonFlux has as it is what he used to record the VTM for DWC. It is MAC based - I double checked

I recommend ScreenFlow (http://www.telestream.net/screen-flow/overview.htm). It's $99 but I've found it to be worth it. Allows recording and editing.
