Default understanding apache

ok...im starting to get deeper into the backend scripting....and i might be asking the dumbest question ever....but i have no experience in this......

i always use hosts that are on the web(gate, go daddy type stuff).....i pay money to them......i know that apache is a server? right? and its free....

whats the difference???? do you need a host carrier??? i looked at the wamp tutorial...and downloaded it.....

i mean is this for domains??? if so what steps to you go thru???im confused...sorry

Apache is a server that runs on your local PC. You can then work on your website without having to upload to a server on the web until you are ready.

The best thing for you to do is go through all of Davidj's video tutorials and all should become clear.

You can find them here......

........ they are very good.

Good luck.
