Default Insert into DB then pass var to results page [PHP]

Ok, I hope you guys can help.

1. I have a search field on page 1 and I want the user to enter their keyowrd which will be inserted into my search field in my mysql table.

2. I then want to pass the keyword as a variable to the results page which will filter the results from a recordset on another table.

My problem is I can do each seperatly but I need to combine the two. I thing it maybe sessions that I need to use but I'm having great difficulty in finding what I need to do on the web.

I really would appreciate your help.

No worries.

Not very savvy at all I'm afraid I tend to just use the Interakt extentions but I will be starting a course in October.

All I'm trying to do is capture which keywords people are using to search my database but not getting very far at the moment.

all i can offer is a foundation of knowlege

the lego bricks of php

this will get you inserting, updating and deleting data...

http://www.dreamweaverclub.com/vtm/php-mysql-apache.php

if this is not what you want then im afraid your going to have to revisit those extensions again.
