Default Background gradient

hey guys, i'm new to the site but i have a basic question. i'm still fairly new to web design so i'm still learning as i go. how to i create a custom back ground such as this : http://www.openwebdesign.org/viewdes...php%3Fpage%3D3

notice how the grey is faded. i would like to be able to learn how to do it. thanks in advance

A gradient is pretty easy if you have the tools. Do you have any graphics software?

yea, i knew it would be something easy. i may have much dumb questions like this in the future I have photoshop, and the whole Macromedia Studio(fireworks, coldfusion, dreamweaver, etc.

In Photoshop, look for the Gradient Tool, in your tool panel.

No question too dumb, we all have to learn one way or another
Did you consider a good Photoshop book or reading more in the manual? Plenty of good stuff there!

see i didnt even know what that was called lol. i'll look up Gradient Tool and see what i can find. i'll try to find a manual online. i appreciate it
