Default A Table in firefox differing from one in IE6!!

Hi ,
I used a table to layout my page and then I used Table>Split cell>column to divide a cell into 2 columns.By using this technique I am trying to place my text at a very specific location on the page. It works perfectly when I view it using Mozilla firefox but the cell(not the table though) containing the text expands itself in IE.
What do I do?
Thanx.

Hi Jean

Have you tried fixing the width of the cell?

e.g. <td width="300"></td>

To set the width in the properties panel select the column and then type the number in the width box as shown below.

Hi Andromeda,
Yup ,I did try to particularly specify the width....The thing is that it looks exactly the same in firefox as it does in the DW design view(the way i want it) but in IE it messes up(stretches that cell for some reason)..

And what properties do the other cells and the actual table have?

Thanx...just managed to solve it....by adding extra columns on the side and making their widths zeros....i wonder why it made the difference though!!
