![]() How can I view a wordpress theme in Dreamweaver without loading extra apps to my mac. I don't see an index.html just a php.html.

![]() You can't as far as I know. You'll need to install MAMP (a local server for Macs) because Wordpress needs to run on a server. Then you can use 'Live View' to view your theme.

![]() You'd only have to reconstruct it again to work with Wordpress afterwards and it wwould be a hell of a job. It takes 10 mins to install MAMP. Not sure why you din't want Wordpress in its 'natural' environment??

![]() I'm just now trying to learn the CSS3 in Dreamweaver but I do like the style of some of the wordpress ThemeForest template. I had loaded wordpress on my Mac and had my server Go Daddy load the database but I just, at my age 64, couldn't get a handle on it as I can in Dreamweaver with a Lynda.com tutorials. Oh I forgot I uninstalled the app for wordpress on my mac.
I'm on a mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and The Adobe CS5 suite. Thanks for the reply. |

![]() You're welcome. You are on the right track in getting into dreamweaver to play with html & css. You need to work with html pages in order to get a grip on manipulating content format with css.
When we say server side, we mean your wordpress pages are not html documents per se, rather they are what's called server side php scripts that dynamically generate the page you see each time you load it. The server, in this case Godaddy, has a engine that does that for you. To do it locally, as in on your own computer, you have to have a server application installed. You have some learning to do, but after a couple weeks you should be comfortable enough to begin toying with your wordpress css as it exists on your site. If you do, just remember to write down the original setting before you change something first. ![]()

![]() One of the most dramatic improvements to Dreamweaver CS5 is the ability edit WordPress themes, but before you can get WordPress (or Joomla! or Drupal) to work, you’ll need to set up your computer as a Web server. It’s a lot of technical steps, but once you get all this set up, you’ll be able to use all of the great design tools in Dreamweaver.
