Talking Site acting wired on IE

Hello everyone, after publishing my site it looks perfectly fine on Firefox and Safari for MAC. But when I view it in IE the thing looks freaking weired. Can anybody help me on this please.

the site is: www.xangohelps.com

Please look at it in Firefox and IE, you can see that under the navigation bar for IE there is a space, and sometimes on other sites that I've made, the fonts that I choose in Dream weaver ends up completely different in IE.

Can someone help me please. THANKSSSSS

i have taken screen shots from both browsers (IE 7 & FF 2)

this shows you what i see

also that banner is over 300 kb big! This needs to be allot smaller (between 20k and 50k if possible)
Would you like to learn PHP from me? Check out -> www.codezenith.co.uk
