Smile Choosing Domain Name

Hi All,
I am about to embark on designing a website for a driving instructor who wants her company to be called 'Lets With Ruth'.
To help with SEO should her domain name be something like 'letswithruthdrivingschool' or does it not matter to much ?, can anyone assist with title for website also if poss ?
Thanks for help !

My opinion its that the domain name its really up to her. obviously a domain name like ruthdrivingschool.com will be more attractive to people but .....

If your think about it, Google index every website by their content and not by their domain name, and the SEO will be based on driving school anyways, the best example its website based on domain names like

steve.com
patrick.com

well who knows whats all this about? well the search engines will index the content of the page, no the domain name itself.

hope that helps you!!

Regards

Having your keywords in the domain name will help. Search for driving school and you'll see that most (but not all) of the top links have driving and/or school in the domain name.

It might be better if you or she could come up with a more memorable domain name with or without driving school.

Back to the search results, notice that everyone has one of the terms in the title (and 8 of 10 have both terms). And the title is something you can control regardless of the domain name

She should also realize it's highly unlikely she's going to rank well for the term driving school without a lot of effort and money. She should focus on doing well for searches that include local info like: Oregon Driving School and look into Google Maps and Google Local.

yes i agree there is an advantage to be had with a descriptive domain name and mant say the main search term should be in the domain name and will give an advantage to seo. as always no one seems to know how much it will help though

Actually, in my experience, everyone knows. They just all disagree.

I would think that including the geographical location in the name and the service provided may be a positive move. let's take an example. There are 2 cottages in Windermere that are named Granary Nook and Old Codgers. The obvious thing may well have been to call the website after the cottage names but a compromise has been taken and they go under the site of www.windermerecottage.co.uk.
Therefore if you google "holiday cottage windermere" they are pretty high up.
I would suspect that ruthsdrivingschool, although a nice reflection of her and what she does would be better served by perhaps lutondrivingschool, or wherever she is based.
But then again, I may be wrong!

Nope, I think that is a fair shout. Location based domain names tend to get snapped up fast so I'd get on it right away and search some combinations.

And there are a number of search engines, online yellow pages, etc. where you can "claim" your business and get them listed for free. That can help drive your local results as well.

I'm not sure how up to date this list is but it's a start:

Google: to claim your listing in Google go to http://maps.google.com and click on the "Put your business on Google Maps" link.

Yahoo!: to claim your listing in Yahoo! go to http://listings.local.yahoo.com/

Bing: to claim you listing in Bing go to https://ssl.bing.com/listings/ListingCenter.aspx (requires Firefox or Internet Explorer browser)

Next in importance

InfoUSA: listings may be added through http://leads.infousa.com/Landing/UpdateListing.aspx

Localeze: to add a free listing: https://webapp.localeze.com/bizreg/

Superpages: to request a free listing: http://www.supermedia.com/business-listings/

yellowbook: to request a free listing: http://corporate.yellowbook.com/prod...-free-listing/
