Image size and cell size mismatch

Hi,

Even though I have set the size of both a table cell and an image in the same pixel number, the table cell ends up wider than the image. What do you think I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Tom

Can you provide the HTML code, or a URL, for us to see?

Why do you set the size of the table cell at all, when the image will otherwise determine the space required?

I picked this one up from someone who started the site and put the sizes in to constrain the table for smaller screens. If there's something else I should be doing--I'm sure there is--please let me know.

The URL is http://www.theoasisschool.com

Thanks.

if u do plan to use tables u will need this in the tag
Code:

<table width="800" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff" align="center">
does that help?
also make sure ur not getting the browser to re-size ur images.
eg: u have ur banner in ur image folder that is really 1200px wide by 250px high. But in dreamweaver u put it in as:
Code:

<td width="800">[img]images/banner.gif[/img]</td>
u are getting the browser to shrink the image which can coz problems, plus it means u are loading a greater file size image that is needed - which will slow ur page down

Thanks for the table code. I'll try it. For future reference, why is it necessary?

But insofar as image size goes, I'm setting it in Photoshop Elements, then putting the same setting into the table cell. Which in my simplistic universe means they ought to fit together precisely.

Puzzled,

Tom
