OS REMIX are releasing an android version for desktop. It is compatable with x86 and noe will run on 32 bit so if you have an old pc or laptop hanging around it might be an interesting way to create a testing station for android apps.
I havent tried it yet but ill post back when i have , the new release is due march 1 so i might wait till then.
It can run from a usb flashdisk its claimed so might be worth a go.
their site is here CLICK (http://www.jide.com/en/remixos)

well i downloaded the new beta 32 bit version,(i did try the alpha version first and it was a mistake and would not boot.)
It came with a app to write to a usb disk, much like unbootin or rufus,
I disregarded the warning about write speed but it still worked.
it was pretty painless, and opened up on reboot via the USB.
clean looking version, file browser, download wi-fi bluetooth.
was disappointed that it did not mount the other disk on the computer the way a usb linux distro doesn't as that would make testing apps a breeze.
I used a dual core pc , 32 bit and a usb2 of 8 gig.
recommended is usb 3 for write speed and a larger than 8 gig would maybe a good idea.
haven't done anything with it but ill post if/when i do
