Has anybody found/got a solution for Googles mania to have websites smartphone and tablet friendly!

We all know its just because they do not want to lose out on about 30 % of users not having an advert link big enough to click on!

Tables - have always been the easy option for web idiots like me - are now more or less unusable - if they hold images.
I can get any amount of "responsive" data tables online - but no solution for tables holding images and rows of text.
If anybody has any solution or links to them.... your help will be much appreciated.

TIA

Vinny

tables really are only for data. and i dont think that will get any easier.
hard to say without seeing your layout as is now, but a easy to follow cheat might be something like >
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>

<style>
.tr{ width:200px; };
.td{ width:200px; };
</style>
</head>

<body>
<h2>data in tables</h2>
<table>

<tr> <td><img src="images/057.png" width="20" height="20"> </td></tr>
<tr> <td> this text </td></tr></table>
<h2>data in divisions</h2>
<div class="tr"> <div class="td"><img src="images/057.png" width="20" height="20"> </div> </div>
<div class="tr"> this text </div> </div>
</body>
</html>

nothing to do with google and everything to do with users (and potential customers) ;)

Hi,

I started way back on DW4 and found that most on many forums webs were using tables as a "container" for their layouts. I found it easy to set things out visually! Later pre made templates filled the gaps. Until I retired I never had time to give to messaging about learning codes as they came and went out of fashion! Layers were better than tables and CSS was the high ground for top webby studios!

Today I have been working at setting our rows with 4 columns - each one to take the place of a 4 column table. It seems to be working so far.

The problem is basically nothing top do with a website - its Google now reporting back (Webmaster tools) about traffic using smartphones.tablets and PC/OS. Sites that are not Responsive....i.e. not "smartphone friendly" are warned that search results will state as much. Its the usual problem of keeping the web owner happy and position etc,. I guess any owner seeing is/their site with a Google warning.. will not be too happy

I'll set up a test page and try your code. Thanks - as always - for your help.
