Someone has asked me to put up a web page for them, and they've sent the page designed in photoshop. There are lots of layers, some with text in them. As far as Search Engine Optimisation goes, can search engines see this text ... or do they just see it as an image ?
Glad of any help.

Hi Keith,
If you as a developer get a design comp, in your case as a PSD, from a designer it's your task to recreate it with HTML & CSS. So all the text will just be <p>, <h1>, <ul> <li>, or whatsoever tags.

Search engines can't read/index what's on an image. They do read the alt attribute (if it's filled in) which should describe an image for search engines or blind people.
