View Full Version : The nature of .bak files

I am trying to find out exactly what .bak files DO, how they are formatted, and if they have a certain sequence. I have scoured the Adobe site, and have come to you all in desperation. This type of file only seems to be mentioned in passing and I have not found anything about the process of how it is generated, and the type of information it should include. I am trying to verify that I have not overwritten any files.

Help me, Obi Wan, you're my only hope!!!

bak files are just backup files. No desperation needed, just leave them alone. You can overwrite a bak file and you're still good. Just pretend they don;t exist, and you'll be better off ;-)

Because I have been accused of overwriting files...I want to know how to interpret how the dates on the .bak files are generated. Is 0001 the first file? Is 0002 the file that replaced it?

Does Dreamweaver still use LCK files? They used to irritate the life out of me!
