Gotta ask why you would want to do this? Regardless of your intent, it sures sounds like a good way to get your site buried for spamming...

You can remove a file extension but its pointless trying to remove the file reference its self.

If you are using Apache webserver you could do this in your .htaccess file...

To turn...
www.domain.co.uk/map.php
www.domain.co.uk/aboutus.php
www.domain.co.uk/contact.php
into...
www.domain.co.uk/map
www.domain.co.uk/aboutus
www.domain.co.uk/contact

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.html

The other option is to pull the entire site through an IFRAME which would do what you wanted but I would advise against it. its not very SEO friendly as well as many other reasons not to do it.
