I thought id put some links for testing servers installing apache/php/mysql. I haven't tested but aamps includes softalicious with free installation of forums,mailing lists etc for your sites. All have free versions

I have written something for setting up your own virtual servers. note that with xampp there are problems documented with vista and up that you need to work through on apache.

after testing this on windows 8 with a newer version of apache, I discovered I needed to make some changes - they changed the format of the httpd.conf.

I have one more thing toadd and then I think I am done. I just added some new instructions.

yes added . if you have time on your hands David have a look at codelobster, has some free trial plugings , drupal ,joomla etc be interested what you think of them

oops! added notepad++ and eclipse. I figured people would get their tools from the tools page listed in the navigation.
