It seems to me that Dreamweaver is blocking the FB Like Box from functioning correctly on my site.

I followed the steps from the link below on how to put a like box on a site
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/

Once pasted to my desire location, whenever i test it on "firefox, ie, chrome",will use chrome for instance, i get this message...

This webpage is not found
No webpage was found for the web address: file://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fp ages%2FXYZ-ABC-test-site-company%2F221422784616985&width=292&height=590&colorscheme=dark&show_faces=true&border_color&stream=true&header=true
Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The file or directory could not be found.

Ive tested my code outside of dreamweaver, and it seems to work fine, so i do believe dreamweaver is the cause of this problem.

You need to give us a link or show us the code. Right now we'd just be guessing ;)

The link provided is FaceBook very own code generator for the Like Box ...

http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/

Once the information is filled, FB generates this code .....

IFRAME OPTION

<iframe src="//www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fp ages%2FXYZ-ABC-test-site-company%2F221422784616985&amp;width=292&amp;height=590&amp;col orscheme=dark&amp;show_faces=true&amp;border_color&amp;stream= true&amp;header=true" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:292px; height:590px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

I've also tried just pasting the code on a new/blank HTML sheet, but i still receive the same results.

I've also attempted to test my code on

http://www.duketown.com/marcel/htmltest.shtml

and it works fine.

Right, the code FB gave you is wrong. You need to specify which protocol to use (http://) or your web page is going to assume it is a file and you get the error that you're getting.

I don't know why FB gives an iframe src string without the http, but DW thinks now it has to look for that URL on your hard drive. Hence the file://www.facebook...
Did you define your site before you've started working on your website? Are there more links in your code pointing to your hard drive?

I did some digging why FB don't add the HTTP protocol to their FB like code and found out that it's called 'network-path reference', so they're doing it for a reason and it has to do with IE (how surprising) thus it's not an error.
Here's an explanation by Paul Irish and it's not related to the FB code, but it's the same principal.

So how is Facebook expecting their code to work? <scratchead>

It does work... only not locally.
