View Full Version : Table Width Math Problem?

Ok, so I have a table that is 530px wide and divided into 3 columns. For some reason at the bottom of the table there is a horizontal scroll bar when there actually shouldn't be one; can someone tell me how to get rid of it? I can't see why it is showing up.

It is in this page: http://joebozzi.com/testing-work.html

Also, if anyone can tell me hot to make it so the page stops and there is no empty space under the footer so the vertical scroll bar on the right of the page doesn't go past the footer i'd appreciate it.

There is a scrollbar to the left of the table. this takes up width as well.

There is one to the right of the table that is actually supposed to be there but the one on the bottom of the table isn't.

The main2 div is 560px wide but the table is only 530 so I don't understand why there is the scroll bar at the bottom; any ideas?

Just recalculate your widths. You have a box model issue here... a child element doesn't fit in the parent and that's why you'll have that horizontal scrollbar. For instance if you change the width from main2 to 580px, the horizontal scrollbar is gone. But like I said... recalculate everything, including margins and paddings you've used.

I've tried doing the math but I still can't get the #main2 content to show up without a scrollbar at the bottom of that div. For some reason it is there on all but 3 pages, http://joebozzi.com, http://joebozzi.com/thanks.html, and http://joebozzi.com/contact.html.

I used the same rules for #main2 on each page so I can't figure out why that scrollbar is there. My guess is that it has to do with the overflow since the three pages listed above fit vertically inside #main2 without need to scroll vertically.

Usually a problem like this doesn't kick my ass so much but this has me stumped. Thanks in advance for any help you could give.
