View Full Version : To Table or not to Table

I've read conflicting advice about whether to use tables to create forms...cs3 says no to tables ... that they are no longer viable...but in its section on forms he recommends using tables to set up your form ...
Dreamweaver for Dummies says "yes" to using tables for forms...

dreamweaver for dummies? is that a new edition?
why not try not using tables and see how you get on, I feel its just a learning curve and you probably wont look back. i might be biased though :)

let me just copy a simple form i made for you to see what you think
<form name="enquiries" class="cssform" action="sendmail.php"method="post" onsubmit="return validate_form ( );" >

<p> <label for="name">Name</label> <input type="text" name="name" size="19" id="name" /></p>

<p><label for="email">E mail</label> <input type="text" name="email" size="19" /></p>

<p><label for="info">Message</label>
<textarea name="info" id="info"></textarea> </p>

<p> <label for="captcha_image">Anti Spam code :</label>
<img src="incl/captcha_image.php" /></p>

<p><label for="captcha_input">Please enter above code</label>
<input type="text" name="captcha_input" size="15"></p>

<p> <input name="Send" type="submit" value="Send" /> </p>

and the style
cssform p{width: 300px;clear: left;margin: 0;padding: 5px 0 8px 0;padding-left: 155px; border-top: 1px solid;

.cssform label{font-weight: bold;float: left;color:#333;width: 150px; }

.cssform input[type="text"]{ width: 180px;}

.cssform textarea{ width: 250px; height: 150px;}

I appreciate your comments and will go ahead with it...however I do not read code and am using Design View...I will copy it and save it for such time as I
ever learn to use it...

to edbr...teamleader...ps to my first reply...Dreamweaver CS5 for Dummies came out 2010 and is published by Wiley...it's hard to understand ... very cryptic in its explanations...I reread your reply and noticed that you created that form for me...I'm grateful...
