Hi, I have a problem, when I try to initialize dw cs5.5 my laptop turns off , my computer is an old one, is a Compaq Presario v2000 DDR1, has 2 GB of RAM (i expanded it)and it has enough hard drive space , i have downloaded the program from different places including the official Adobe site but the problem remains,so it is not a corrupt file problem.
I did not have this problem with dw 8/cs3/cs4/cs5, only with cs5.5, my processor is an AMD Sempron LV, 1800 MHz and I have windows xp 32 bits, and I patched it for use it at 32 bits, and nothing, it still turns off when i initialize dw cs5.5
please help !!!!!!!
Thanks a lot

Go to
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/personalize/gadgets

and scroll down to the "All CPU Meter" gadget. Download it. It installs as a desktop viewer which continuously displays your ram & processor consumptions.
Once you've got it running, see what your usage is prior to firing up DW.
You say you have 2 GB ram, sounds to me you're running short for sure. DW 5.5 requires something like 512MB ram all by itself, so there's your crash, or so I think.

hi john, thanks, im already checking the specs of dw cs5 & cs5.5 , and they are quite the same, procesor atlon, 512 ram etc... so i really donīt think is the ram the problem, if you have any other idea is welcom, by the way i just try to download the program you just told me and when the download is finish, it doesnīt show any known icon

Where do your downloads go? It needs to be launched. To me it's still the first check. If your computer crashes, to me it's a space issue...

If you are running Windows XP this may be related to the Windows XP shutting down on attempted launch of Dreamweaver CS5.5 bug I mention here: http://www.dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/dreamweaver-cs5-5-ftp-bug-affects-godaddy-users.php

One possible solution is making sure you have installed CP Service Pack 3.
