View Full Version : browser and screen size viewer recommendation...

I've noticed a few websites where they have decided to advise their viewers to use a particular browser (typically firefox) and a minimum screen size (or browser window size) such as 1280x800px

What's peoples opinion on this? Would you bother trying to quite bluntly make people 'upgrade' if they're not able to view a website to its full potential?

Is this perhaps a positive way of making people scrap their outdated IE6 & 7 and install a modern browser?

I'd suggest not to go this route... if a developer can't be bothered to do some cross browser testing and/or to learn to do cross browser development, IMO he shouldn't develop websites at all.

Check the browser stats of a website... that's where you develop for.

Agree. The web is about making information and systems accessible, not the other way around.

Makes sense. I always thought it was pretty pointless, kind of like a film company insisting you watch their movies on at least a 42" LCD screen preferably made by Sony...
