Having a problem tightening up the gap in these images using ul. I've tried everything from 0ing the padding and margins. Using floats, White space = nowrap, Display = inline or inline-block or compact or runin.

Nothing seems to affect the gap (image attached).
HTML is simple.
<body>
<div id="wrapper">

<div id="header2">
<ul>
<li><img src="assets/images/headerBandolin.jpg" alt="bandolin" /></li>
<li><img src="assets/images/headerWebUP.jpg" alt="Web" /></li>
<li><img src="assets/images/header3DUP.jpg" alt="3D" /></li>
<li><img src="assets/images/header2DUP.jpg" alt="2D" /></li>
<li><img src="assets/images/headerGalleryUP.jpg" alt="Gallery" /></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div id="compass"></div>
</div>
</body>This is the CSS
#header2
{
height: 65px;
width: 930px;
position: relative;
}
#header2 ul
{
font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;
display: inline;
list-style-type: none;
white-space: nowrap;
border-collapse: collapse;
}

#header2 ul li
{
display: inline;
list-style-type: none;
white-space: nowrap;
border-collapse: collapse;
}Googling the problem comes up with a host of solutions, none of which works for me.

I'm guessing you're using doctype transitional.

Can you put this somewhere temporarily on the web?

I can I guess. Let it be known that I'm really a hobbyist. Well, not so much a hobbyist but a digital artist with little web experience. In other words I'm an artist not a programmer, but I see the future. Artists will have to acquire coding skills to distribute their work.

Tomorrow, I will endeavour to develop a section on my site devoted to development so that real webmasters can decipher my hack jobs:???:

We all start somewhere 8)

What happens if you change your doctype to
<!DOCTYPE html>

.
