I am at the beginning process of adding a new, internal site to an existing site. The links for the homepage I've built for the internal site are not working at all. I've only added two so far....one on the left 'brochure' rollover button and one on the "about - General info" in the navigation bar. they are both linked to internal files. When I click on them, nothing happens, except I get a "#" at the end of the url.

Here's the url....http://www.renfrew.org/conference2011/

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

FYI - when you view the source on the url, it doesn't show that I've added any links but when I'm viewing the code in dreamweaver, they're there AND they work when I do a 'preview in browser.'

Well the links aren't there. Did you save the file and upload it after adding the links?

Since it shows up in the browser you are 1/2 way home. I'm no expert, but when you were establishing the links in the page properties panel you had TWO choices, one said 'Root,' which means it will find the server-side address. (Assuming this file already exists there.)

Except that the links aren't showing up at all on the page at the url he gave up. So he's half way home but getting the page to the website is the next step.

I've saved and uploaded all of the appropriate files to the server. Here's an example of how the code looks for the 'brochure' link both in dreamweaver and in the live preview (where it actually works). It's just not showing up at all when looking at the actual site...clicking the link only seems to refresh the page and add a '#' to the end of the url.

<div class="container">
<div class="header"><!-- end .header --></div>
<div class="sidebar1">
<p><!-- end .sidebar1 --></p>
<p><a href="/renfreworg/conference2011/brochure.asp"><img src="images/brochuretopbutton.jpg" alt="brochure" name="brochure" width="161" height="116" border="0" id="brochure" /></a></p>
</div>

I understand which means you are:

1. Not uploading the file to the server because if you did we would see the change when we viewed the source of you page and we don't OR

2. You are uploading the file to the wrong directory on the serveer which could be caused by setting up the remote info (particularly the root directory) for your website incorrectly.

I could be wrong but those are the two most obvious possibilities.

thanks for the help, everyone...still not solved and I can't figure out why. Wondering if using asp file vs html files would make any difference? I'm working off of an already existing site that used asp.

You've probably got the site defined incorrectly, most likely you didn't set the server directory/root directory (depends on your version of DW) when setting up the remote/server info so you'r uploading to the wrong directory on the server.
