View Full Version : Seriously stuck

Hi everyone, I am using cs5 to build a site for a friend, he is a little busy with his business and the guy who had it set up before was using iweb, he wanted control and is having to rebuild the site from scratch, it needed to be changed anyway.

I have built the main page, it is laid out exactly as per his request with a small amount of menu options on the header and the rest on the sidebar on the left.

What he is hoping to achieve is to have the central part change when you select either one of the options and nothing else on the page. I have created the boxes with the central box being the largest as it is handling all the info in CSS, introduction, courses, team etc but I am having issues getting only that box to change when I select a menu option (from either the header or sidebar)

I also need to change the first 2 sidebar options only so they open up a second menu, there are another 6 options after that which only need to change the centre box from the first layer of the menu, the top 2 (courses and specialisations) need to change the central box from the second layer of that part.

Any help would be appreciated, I haven't done anything for web design for a few years and have got myself in a pickle, Thanks.

It sounds like you're talking about using frames which is a bad idea for a number of reasons. Each "page" should be an actual html page. You can repeat the menus and other structure on each page by using Dreamweaver templates or include files.

hiya DW, Thanks for the tip, I read it a few days ago but have been a little busy. I have made every page the same as you suggested and have quite a few pages in respective folders but it is kinda working now. Thanks for the soundbyte pushing me into the other direction.
