View Full Version : confused about index page file extension

It says in my Dreamweaver 8 tutorial book that it is standard to have a .htm or .html file extension on your index page. I'm worried about this as my index page is full of php and has a php extension.
Could someone explain the rights and wrongs relating to this issue.
Thanks -

If your page is full of PHP then index.php it is. My guess is that they wrote it like that if someone just started out with learning HTML then indeed it's most common to use index.html or index.htm. If you want to use serverside scripting like PHP then it should be index.php.
