I have loads of really good ideas for websites but i cant draw, I am aware of free stock photo sites and anything I can't find I can usually do myself, but as for art work, that's where im stuck. are there any sites that offer free artwork that is designed for websites?

About the only thing out there art-wise that can be construed as 'designed for websites' would be backgrounds, and free ones are everywhere, as well as the brushes used to make them. I assume though that you are actually referring to drawings. Free 'clip-art' is abundant as well, but you probably know this already, and also that most of it is quite primitive. Getting quality art isn't necessarily expensive, volume packs of very high-quality drawings can be had for like 25 pounds.
That said, a word of warning. Ripping proprietary images off a site & using them on your own personal site is one thing, placing them on a client's is quite another. Copywrite in the U.S. is taken dead serious by the FTC here. If you need something very specific though, you can usually get very high quality custom work done anywhere from $40 - $600.

There are loads of sites/blogs that offer freebies (icons, web elements, textures, PS brushes, PS styles, etc.) for web designers. Every web designer needs some stock graphics in its arsenal, but if you want to be special then I'd recommend to look into doing some Photoshop or Illustrator tutorials to learn the techniques. By the time that you going to design your own stuff you will notice that in the beginning you suck, but in the end you will get better and better.

Here are some resources I have in my RSS feed or have bookmarked:

This is payed site, but from 2 to 6 dollars you have some great design elements:

Did you consider partnering up with someone more 'artsy'?

thanks for them sites they are defiantly a good starting point. I think I would look at joining someone more artsy if I was getting into this as a job, but for now Im just after creating some nice looking designs myself
