We use a website called Applegate Stock On line. We can list individual stock items online with some details and then a direct link to the relevant page on our website.

We have over 20 listed and they all link to different pages on our website.

Would this count as 20 in links to our site or just 1.

Also please can someone tell me how i can find out how many inlinks i have going to my site. I have searched and found a couple of sites but when i run them i get completely different results.
Many thanks

How many depends on how you look on it Jane. It si in fact 20 links, but it's one website linking to you.

The Google webmaster tool gives you information on how many links Google see going to your website. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/

thank you for your reply

I have just seen the information on my links. It shows only 8 links (then 8 linked pages) for the Applegate. I know we have more than 8 so why doesnt Google show more. and does this also mean that Google will count this as 8 in links to our site.

Also against one of the companies, it shows 15 links but only 1 linked page. Does this mean that all 15 links are going to the same page.

Hope this makes sense

The best thing would probably be to go to the page and check. It sounds like that is what it is, but hard to say from here.

google does not count all links, i do not know the criteria they use but the link's inbound are subject to google filters I believe, links from directories for example

Try Yahoo! Site Explorer at http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

Search for your domain name and then click the inlinks button.

You might also want to use the SEObook toolbar for Firefox at http://tools.seobook.com/seo-toolbar/
