View Full Version : Spry menu displaying incorrectly online

Hi All.

Apologies in advance, as this is my VERY first attempt at creating a website!! I have put some pages online using sianita.com just to check it out, and I cannot figure out why the Spry Menu just displays as text? It displays correctly in preview, but not online in any browser!

I bet it is something really silly, and I have used a template from CS5 as I am learning and know very little about HTML, but any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes, Anita. :grin:

That's right, the whole SpryAssets folder needs to be uploaded.

They seem to have uploaded ok and are showing in the correct FTP File Publisher folder on the hosting site too? :confused:

The SpryAssets folder should be in the same folder as your index.html. Without knowing your host, I can't say what that should be (probably httpdocs, public_html, www or something similar).

Your links to the spry files look like this:

<link href="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

Which leads me to believe you've got your site defined (or set up in CS5) incorrectly). That link actually puts the file in the parent directory of the directory that holds your website on the server. Which means it's not accessible.

All sorted. Thank you for your help! I will not make that silly mistake again.

I would never make a statement like that. I have a seemingly limitless capacity for repeating mistakes both silly and otherwise.:roll:

Ha ha! Ok.... I'll take that back! You're right. I probably will do it again somewhere down the line! Anyway, hopefully you stay on the Forum, as I am sure to come across more problems soon being a newbie. It is exciting seeing your first website attempt go online though I must admit. 
