View Full Version : Flash movie code confusion.

I've finished my website and I'm now going through it to tidy things up. In the process of grouping script families into folders, I found that I have little understanding of the following two pieces of code. They resulted from using Dreamweaver and Flash in a round robin style. My initial problem is relinking via ../ etc but actually I realised that I have no understanding of the relationship between this:
<script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','width','550','heigh t','60','title','bannerslogan','src','images/newbanner1a','loop','false','quality','high','plug inspage','http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','images/newbanner1a' );
//end AC code

and this:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="550" height="60" title="bannerslogan">
<param name="movie" value="images/newbanner1a.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="LOOP" value="false" />
<embed src="images/newbanner1a.swf" width="550" height="60" loop="False" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>

I've noticed that when I comment out the second section of code, the first one works anyway.
Do I need the second section of code or is there something vital about it that I am not able to see ?
Any explanation would be much appreciated.
Thanks -

This should clarify things... Noscript is there to thwart malicious hacks... absolutely it stays...

The first one relies on JavaScript to work, but if a visitor has javascript disabled in its browser he will get an alternative option which is the second one between the <noscript> tags... hence the name noscript.

And also for browsers has no JavaScript at all, on any device.
