Hi

Can someone put light on this for me please.

I have, for arguments sake bought 2 domain names which are

www.myproduct.co.uk (http://www.myproduct.co.uk)
www.myproduct.com (http://www.myproduct.com)

I am going to host the website on the .com and 301 the.co.uk, if someone searches for "myproduct" clicks on google for UK searches will the site still show up (and again for arguments sake)have the same sort of weight as if it were a www search
Or with it being on the .com would this cause the co.uk address to fall down the listings.

I hope this makes sense, sorry if it doesnt.

You can only have one domain show up in the search index.
If you try to have both sites show up, Google is going to choose one for you and ignore the other, (duplicate sites). Bad idea.

If you're serious about a 301, which is the best approach, then only one TLD (.com or .co) is going to show up in the search results.

301 equals moved permanently which means that Google search engines will ignore that domain.

You might consider having a landing page on www.myproduct.co.uk which matches the look and feel of the main site but with custom content. All the navigation on the www.myproduct.co.uk could then point to the main site.
