View Full Version : *Sighs* More stumbling blocks

Afternoon all

I'm playing round experimenting/learning how the relationship between div tags and the float/clear properties works

What i've done is (in this order) created divs for a container, header, navmenu, sidebarleft, maincontent, sidebarright, and a footer, then experimented with positioning them how i want them to sit on the page

For a while, it seemed to work, sidebar left...float left, sidebar right....float right, main content... float left, footer...clear both

but on my next experiment, a gap appeared above the header when i preview it in a browser, even though in dreamweaver, it sits tight up against the top of the page

So my question is... am i on the right lines or have i missed anything out?

As for the gap above the header? any ideas on that one?

thanks chaps

It might be a browser default. Do your use a CSS reset?
