Tried to add paypal button, does not work, I get this:

http://tinypic.com/r/15nltw3/7

Code is this:

Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000169 EndHTML:0000003834 StartFragment:0000002908 EndFragment:0000003798 SourceURL:file://localhost/Users/ken/Desktop/paypal%20code.doc

<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">

<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick">

<input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="GAMXAKUND9AME">

<input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!">

<img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1">

</form>

------

I paste it right into code view after a paragraph break, so I'm puzzled.

The website needs to be live or previewed in a browser with web connection for this to show the actual button.

See this bit is the link to the button image;

<input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!">

and it references the paypal site so DW is just showing you a representation of where the button will be.

It's just the section of your code I was referring to. See the external web address (URL) in the code?
