Hi All,

I've wiritten an echo in code view and hit F12 to launch the code in IE8 and have got an error:

Server Error in Application "DEFAULT WEB SITE"

Internet Information Services 7.5

Error SummaryHTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

What does this mean and how do I sort it?

Many Thanks

if your using iis php will not work you need to use a server that will handle php try wamp or xxamp

Would I have to disable IIS first?

I've tried both of them I've but can not get the service to start. I have Windows 7 64bit Home premium. Is this a problem?

Thanks for your response!

yes i believe so as thy both map to localhost , might be able to use different ports and ip addresses but not sure that would be wise (or even possible)

ed is right

both servers use port 80 and your IIS has taken it first. Stop the IIS server and then restart Apache and all will be well

Hi Ed/David,

So I've disbled IIS and installed the latest edition of WAMP. I've gone into DW CS4 and hit F12 to detail in my web browser an the HTML paragraph details but not the PHP Echo statement. All that shows is the HTML sentence with a little, I suppose you could call it an icon, at the end of the HTML paragraph.

What does that mean? Am I doing something wronge as in something isn't set up correctly in either WAMP of DW CS4.

Many Thanks

if you type http://localhost in your browser what do you see?

08-12-2010, 04:32 PM
the browser says:-

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

in the system tray you have a wamp icon. It looks like an white meter. can you see it and what colour is it?

08-13-2010, 09:53 AM
The WAMP icon is yellow and online.

08-13-2010, 10:01 AM
The icon (meter) should be all white. Sounds like conflicting ports to me. I find Skype does this as well.

make sure IIS and Skype is not running

then try restarting the wamp services

you need the wamp icon to be white (with or without a little padlock in the middle of it)

Yep it's all white now and is saying that the server is online. Still i get the same PHP icon.

Now when I type in http://Localhost/ I get the wampserver configuration screen.
