Hi. I appreciate that it's possible to hide the .html extension in the url address bar by using .htaccess, but the problem that I have is that within Dreamweaver (CS3) all of my links INCLUDE the .html extension.

Granted I can remove these quite simply (contact.html becomes contact) but by doing so means that I am unable to test the site off-line through Dreamweaver. It all works fine on-line, but is there anyway - either by a setting or a plug-in - that will mimic the .htaccess effect and allow me to design and test a site whilst off-line?

Many thanks,

You might try checking the Preview using temporary file option in Preferences under Preview in Browser.

Now, why don't you want to use the html extension?
