Hello,

I'm new to dreamweaver and I'm trying to build a website.

I was wondering how I can add a banner like strip like the one in this template
http://www.csstemplateheaven.com/demo/minimalistic-demo/index.html

the black strip where the links and the logo lies on.

Thank you! 8)

Thank you for the response!

I tried playing around with a div. I'm really new to this. But I'm learning!

It seems like there might be a gradient to it? How would you add such effect?

You are right. There is a gradient. Create an image of the gradient you want in a graphics program. Slice it very thinly so it is tall enough for your menu bar but only a few pixels wide. Then add it as a background to your div using the CSS background-image property and set it to 'repeat-x' and it will fill the div background giving you your gradient :)
