Guys, i am building my personal website to show off my resume to the world. Need to look for a job in CG field somewhere out there...

This Dreamweaver thingy is making me crazy with strange problems. Using CS4 for Mac.

First, i have built a simple navigation bar with JPEG buttons. Off course, i need to link each of those buttons to another page that represent that particular sub section in my website. But, when previewed on Safari, when clicked, these buttons would just open Finder window and point to that ASP file, it is like the system tells me to open that page my self!!! THIS IS STRANGE!!!! DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!

Second, when previewed on Firefox, the browser would just show the code. It acts just like a notepad, not like a browser. I have no idea why this is happening.

Third, Dreamweaver doesnt give me an option to create a HTML page. I want it simple, I dont need to do it using ASP. Is this the cause of these stupid problems?

thanks in advance

sounds like a faulty dreamweaver if you cant create html pages not asp. for the rest we would need to see the code to get a better view of the problem

I posted the same question over Luxology forum ( i am a Modo user too ), and people have helped me there. It turned out that when I created the template, I didnt pay attention to the options, I just used the default setting.

So I restarted it, creating it anew. This time, i created a template for HTML, not for javascript ASP or whatever.

But, when I previewed that code using Safari, ( it is the code for the template, not a page created based on the template ) , then clicked the "Home" button, Safari would tell my computer to open "Finder"; So a Finder window would pop up with the linked file highlighted. Ready to be clicked open to a new Safari window.

I dont understand.

well i skip the lectures about using tables for layout but will advise you look at css for cross browser suitability.
as for your page names re name then to have extension .html or htm. the .ASP will require a server to show them , why DW is doing that i dont know but when you go new page make sure html is selected

okay. thanks sir. that solved my problem.

i am curious about this, hope you dont mind. do you live in bali as a web developer? or do you have any other job to do?

i have a plan to leave indonesia to look for a job in computer graphics related field, because i think people here dont appreciate my talent. so, seeing a foreigner living in indonesia and leading a forum for dreamweaver, got me by surprise.

i spent 4 days in mid may with a couple of friends who came to visit bali, and they are from rotterdam. one of them would leave netherland sometime next year because she is "over educated" and she said it would be hard to look for a job ( 2 PhD degrees in her belt ).

in short, i am just soooo surprised to know that your are in bali, and still doing web development. it seems to me you are having fun with your life. amazing.

well actually my main business is employment and business consulting in Bali, the web bit is part of it bit mostly because i want to do it, villa rental and management is really the province of my wife who i work together with (she is Dutch BTW)
i understand the not being appreciated complaint living in Bali is part of a life choice not empire building for most. I do find employment for expats usually at the rate of 1 a month average, but a lot depends on expectations of salary and to some extent conditions, The most common placement for me is General managers in the hospitality , business although not uniquely, go to my profile and email me if you think i can help and i will send you a link to my mail site, for employment , marketing visas etc.
