I have created an xml sitemap, which folder do I add it to ?, is it in the same folder as the index.html folder ?

Cheers,

I just keep mine the in root folder but you need to go into Google Webmaster Tools (or equivalent) and tell Google where your site map can be found.

Hi

Seen youve added your sitemap.xml
Something you should be made aware of
this is a line from your sitemap

<url>
<loc>http://www.jsmobilebeautytherapy.co.uk/</loc>

</url>

It should look more like

<url> <loc>http://www.jsmobilebeautytherapy.co.uk/</loc>

<priority>0.80</priority>

<lastmod>2010-05-06T13:52:28+00:00</lastmod>

<changefreq>monthly</changefreq>

</url>

Something else you need to be made aware of is on your navigation for "Treatments" you have a list of 6 items, Manicure, Pedicure, etc etc, when you click on these links all that changes is the address bar, so you have put 6 duplicate pages on your site....no point matey.
You need to have different pages for each of the treatments for example
For your manicure page.

<h1>Manicures by Js Mobile Beauty Northampton</h1>
<h2>The history of the Manicure</h2>
<p>A little History</p>
<h2>Manicure Treatments</h2>
<p>List all your different manicure treatments</p>
<h2>Hot oil Manicures</h2>
<p>More fluffy crap in here</p>
<h2>Manicure Prices</h2>
<p>The prices for each treatment</p>

I know it does sound fluffy and pretentious but it will help, lets say someone is searching for "manicures in Northampton", the relevance from your page would look better for google than just 6 copied pages, with all exactly the same content.

Hi,
thanks for reply, the links point to the Treatments page and link to anchors down the page to the treatment concerned, not sure if I've done this right, do I need individual pages for each treatment concerned ?
Will sort sitemap, thanks for advice, any more I appreciate it !

Thanks Again

Hi

Use seperate pages, not only are you adding to content it gives you a fresh new page to attack google with more relevant info for the user.

Go to the butchers and give him minced up cows ear your going to get burgers, go to the butchers and give him the cow you end up with many different quality cuts of beef, and alot more choice for the butcher to select from.

Same with your site.

Hi,
Thanks again for reply !
Do I need to add this after every url listed ?

<priority>*0.80*</priority>

<lastmod>*2010-05-06T13:52:28+00:00*</lastmod>

<changefreq>*monthly*</changefreq>

and could you explain what this means to assist me in the future ?

Thanks Again,
Nick C

there is always speculation of actually being penalised by google for duplicate content
