I know your thinking this guy is a duffus but i am going to learn DW if it kills me.... lol.... and it may,, Any way i am tring to set up the testing server i get the message

The site url prefix [/wwwroot/test] for the testing server
does not match the site URL prefix [/test] specified in HTTP
Address for the site.

Can anyone tell me what this means and how to fix it? i have everything pointing to Inetpup/wwwroot/test in the tutorial of Dw it says to pul localhost/test. but that is not working either.

first test the server is up and running. open a browser and go to http:/localhost if all is good you should see something but cant remember what with IIS im afraid.
next if thats good go through your site definitions to see the remote and testing server locations are right

thanks edbr, I tried that and it says:

HTTP Error 404.4 - Not Found

Description: The resource you are looking for does not have a handler associated with it.
Error Code: 0x80070002
Notification: MapRequestHandler

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/

Most likely causes:
The file extension for the requested URL does not have a handler configured to process the request on the Web server.
What you can try:
If the file extension does not have a handler associated with it, add a handler mapping for the extension.
Verify that the handler associated with the file extension is properly installed and configured.
Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. A module handler is not configured on the Web server for this extension. If the file extension being denied is required by the Web server, add the appropriate handler for the file extension.

What is a handler and i do i configure it. i could not find this in DW help.

what is the name of the file you are trying to open?

05-08-2010, 02:02 PM
index.html, I have gone back and renamed the file index.htm. but neither works i have tried to open other files as well such as my photo page, contact and my email form to test but i get the same 404 error every time. i did a time test tutorial for testing the server from DW and still get the same error. I was looking at some IIS forms Where other people were getting the same error. all were running vista home premium as I am and the moderator said that something about static console did not come with this ops. Any way my next question is do i have to have IIS on my system or can i use coldfusion to do the same as IIS. sorry to be such a pain. I do appreciate your help

ah seems like a vista thing then, no you dont have to use iis in fact i would always advise an apache server as this is the most likely you will encounter in the real web. disable iis and download a server such as WAMP this isa server conplete with mysql database system and php should you want to develop more in the future . these are free and are basically a one click installation
yahoogle for wamp or xxamp they are similar (also easyphp but i find that not so easy to use)
